Drone Foaming El Casco Beaumont Hill 8/24/14
Author: gjc

This video was shot around 8:15am at El Casco, San Timoteo Canyon Yuma Sub. The drone is a DJI Phantom 2 quad copter with a GoPro Hero3+. The GoPro was set to "wide" which gave it a "fish eye" effect.
I'm still learning how to use all this stuff and still trying new things along with things I've tried in the past. My main task for this video was to shoot a long pacing sequence and this video was the longest so far. After the pace I just wanted to bring the drone back to me and land it.

Very good use of your "Drone." Very good sequence of the train's movement thru the area. Thanks for posting.

Nice. . . .was the audio from the drone?

cool shot. Was there a delay in the trains horn for that small crossing at .48 thru .59 of the video. It sounded like the last 2 horn blasts were done after going over this crossing?
Thanks.
Robert.

What are those cement pads under the tracks that look like model railroad re-railer sections?

Another great video from LCRV's 'eye in the sky'. Nice catch on the ex C&NW DPU as well.

Thanks for sharing,

Wish we had these things back in the '50s when passenger trains didn't all look the same and some were pulled by steam!

Very stable! What gimbal do you use?

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you keep the remote camera focused on the train? Is the camera view transmitted back to the hand held control that you are operating the drone with?

Awesome video!

My husband has a DJI Phantom Vision 2+ and early on crashed it. Sent it to DJI for repair and they repaired and replaced the gimbal for free whic makes us wonder if the gimbal on our "gizmo" as we call it was defective. To begin with and shouldn't have broken in the crash. At any rate, certainly a plus for the DJI company

Hi Bob,
Yes, the video is transmitted from the GoPro back to my FPV HD 7inch monitor that is attached to the controller.

A truly remarkable video, George, well done and thanks for posting.
I was particularly impressed with the image stability; no hovering
motion at all. Do you have an image stabilizer on this contraption.
I'm looking forward to more of your "drone" efforts.
