Scary graffiti label question
Author: photobob

I spotted this graffiti on a box car sitting at Black Butte today. On the door of this car was a label saying it contained some kind of gas for fumigation. What would this be all about?

Bed bugs?

The label is over the graffiti so the intentions are not related.

Shipments of grain are routinely fumigated with this gas to kill critters riding along in the grain. This is probably on a C-6 covered hopper, right?

Why Bob, it is about abominable, be it snowman or graffitist. Now an employee missed a chance for a little fun by not putting the placard in the right hand of the abominable snowman.

I stand corrected... It's the door on a box car. Sorry! Bagged grain or other commodity could still be fumigated during transport.

Many years ago, a box car full of bananas for a Cincinnati area produce dealer was found to be full of Tarantula's. They hauled it to Oakley OH, the Eastern end of the Cincinnati Terminal and contracted a local exterminator to tent and fumigate the car. The local crew was a little hesitant to handle the car....

If cars are found to have bugs, they are fumigated before the next load

Doesn't look like a NYC subway car.

But with the flakes and tight tummy, I'm guessing it is the Abdominal Snowman.

Probably dating myself, but that's the Bumble from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (Burl Ives version). Remember Yukon Cornelius' famous saying....Bumbles Bounce!
