Western Railroad Discussion > Monday Meets: Big Grinder at Big TimberDate: 09/01/14 05:07 Monday Meets: Big Grinder at Big Timber Author: santafe199 You’re sitting in the assistant engineer’s seat (aka conductor’s seat on most other RRs) in the cab of BNSF 6194 on eastbound train CECSCM 0-63. A slightly unusual meet is taking place and you have a front row seat. This is a Loram mobile rail grinding outfit ducking into the siding at Big Timber, MT to let your train pass. Once you’re train is by the grinder will come back out resume its chores.
1. Loram RG-302 is ‘taking the hole’ at the east switch. 2. With the grinder having stopped just in the clear the dispatcher provides a more favorable signal indication. Two photos taken May 13, 2010 at Big Timber, MT (in the days before it became illegal to use cameras on duty) Thanks for letting us by, pardner!
