I just got word from SP5312 that John is in ICU at a local Bakersfield hospital and at the moment they have him on a ventilator. He hasn't been in too good of shape for the last 6 months or more. Actually it has been much longer, but John swore me to secrecy as he didn't want people to know. But I am super worried about John right now and John will just have to get pissed at me 'cause I am telling everyone on here know as I think MOST EVERYONE here feels the same way I do about him. I have know him since his days in Los Angeles, some 35 years. 20 years ago, when I was still umpiring baseball, John made mention he had an interest in doing that. Okay, let's see if you have what it takes. So I had him working the bases and I had an absolute blast with him, and he was pretty damn good too! We even went down to Seal Beach CA. to do a tournament together.

GET BETTER John!!!!! You are in our prayers.

I miss the posts also, Mike. I just hope he comes out of this one okay.

Thanks for the info Virlon.

I haven't seen John in several months, in fact it was probably the last time he, Larry "SPLoopConductor" and I had dinner together in Bakersfield. John has been suffering with COPD for some time and it's taken a toll on him. He hasn't been on TO much lately, as many have noticed. Much of his computer time, the last 6 months, has been spent reconnecting with old friends and family on Facebook. I'm sure Larry is worried sick...so am I.

I was going to post about him right now, and saw your post, V. He sounded the best I've heard him in weeks just this past Thursday, on the phone. Sherry made Lasagna and a Tuna casserole and some other goodies this past week, and we ran them by to him at his house. His COPD was acting up... out of breath. He will be in ICU until Wednesday or Thursday... this is very serious, really.

As I hear, I will pass along.


P.S. : Yes, Virlon, we're all going to catch the you-know-what from him about posting... I did the last time! LOL

Wondered why I hadn't seen anything from John for some time. Really sorry to hear about his situation.

I had the pleasure of working with John at the Newhall Ranch Movie Train and the Fillmore & Western during the mid 80's to the mid 90's.

Get well John, we'll say a prayer for your recovery.

Also, thanks for sharing with us so we can keep him in our prayers.

John is in my prayers indeed. Will never forget after my divorce when he told me (I never even met him): "We hogheads have got to stick together." God Bless Him. Saw a photo of him one time several years ago that one of you guys posted on here and he appeared to be the picture of youth, health, and vitality. And I hope that this returns.
