California Northern GP15-1 Renumbered
Author: CrudPunko

Back on July 28, 2014 I chased California Northern's north end job all the way to Cortena where it met the south end job. At Cortene the two jobs exchange trains, with the south end train running back to Woodland and then Davis to drop off cars at the UP interchange. The first photo is of 1569 departing Cortena back north and the next two photos were taken a couple of miles north of Cortena.

I was happy to bag one of the few GP15-1s that are left on the railroad. I did notice, however, that Genessee & Wyoming renumbered this unit - I'm wondering if anyone here knows what the former number of CFNR 1569 used to be.

Thanks.

Three of CFNR's GP15-1's were repainted G&W orange and renumbered just over a year ago:
109 to 1568
112 to 1569
113 to 1570

CFNR 104 was repainted as PSAP (Puget Sound and Pacific) 1572. They also have CFNR 106 & 110 but one of those was repainted last fall.

At least one that had been on the DGNO (CFNR 105?) fairly recently got transferred to the AL&M, then was re#/repainted to ALM 1566.

Okay guys, you're assuming we all know what these railroad reporting marks are - we don't! What is DGNO and AL&M?
