Homeland Safari

Been saving up!! Anyhow, think I got the camera figured out. Some results from south eastern Colorado..

End of August had the V&S rail train parked near Adobe Wells siding west of Arlington CO. HDR images.

Then, earlier this week my wife left me......
So I went after some fresh paint. Had all the stars line up just right.

Two new ACes depart Las Animas Jct under cool skies...

Heading south at MP 229 at 15mph.

Couple days later I headed west to Pueblo for a couple more ACes. Pair of CREX units lead a Amarillo load south(east) at Rocky Ford,CO.

Little farther west a surprise UP train at NA Jct. Cement I think.

I set up camp a little south of Crews on the old ATSF flyover and waited.
DP going away northbound.
Load south.
Quick hustle and the DP going south looking down the old ROW

Looking towards Fountain,CO.
Right behind was the HDENBEL.
Finally, with only three minutes of light, they show up...

Went to see the November Man in Pueblo, and when I got home they were parked.

Leaving LaJunta

Late #3 at Hadley (east of Casa)

Then the ACes.

As they were held up by #3, the light went south in a hurry. Best I could do for sun angle was the cut at MP188.

I headed home to find this Motly Crue....

And behind that was another ACe!! Charging uphill at MP229

Heading home the Holcomb empty came flying by at Hadley.

This morning found a few reefers in town. This one caught my eye.

Parked westbound..

And another CREX comes blasting into LaJunta.

Farther north the V&S drags their threader east to Adobe Creek siding.

And on the Twin Peaks sub nearing Beshoar, Two of the three new ACes that were on it make it to Trinidad,CO.

The DP rides off into the sunset.

I headed east, and caught a late #4 at West Simpson.

At home, somebody didn't understand the pole meant end of street.

Wife comes home maybe today. It was just a doctor appointment:)

Wow, great stuff! The shot of Amtrak is phenomenal! Nice work! What settings did you use for the Amtrak shot after sunset?

Great pictures with lots of variety! Lots of nice new BNSF power that I haven't seen in Washington yet, except for the 8400's.

Looks like you're getting the hang of your new Canon just fine. Great series, especially with that evening shot of Amtrak which is stellar! Thanks for sharing.
