Western Railroad Discussion > Colton: Rescuers save man who reportedly fell off trainDate: 09/20/14 13:06 Colton: Rescuers save man who reportedly fell off train Author: hotrail Here is a very unusual story from Colton, CA. Published today on press-enterprise web site:
Rescue crews Friday night lifted to safety a severely injured man who reportedly fell off a train and landed on a pipe below a railroad bridge above the Santa Ana River in Colton, officials said. http://www.pe.com/articles/colton-750448-reportedly-fell.html In the full story it says he was found on a water or sewer pipe about eight to 10 feet below the bridge and later says "He was straddling the pipe about 100 feet above the cement river bed". I think I know the bridge there just east of old Colton, but is it really that high above the river bed? Not that high, but it will still kill ya. See here- http://goo.gl/maps/eDSUs The pipe is alongside the bridges, but veers away at the bridge ends.
