than reprint a political press release. In the old days Railway Age or Modern Railroads would have had a nice article with maps and analyses of such a project. I asked the same question but I guess we have to remember this line is already heavy with Amtrak. It seems if the states want to run more trains they have to pay the price, which is becoming pretty steep, no freebies. Bob Date: 10/23/14 12:28 Re: Work begins on Eola Yard for Chicago-Moline passeng Author: twropr Marty - I wondered the same thing myself. I finally found a website (it may have come from a post on railroadfan.net) that presented a link to an IDOT study. The study claimed that BNSF often has to stage eastbound trains on one of the two main tracks of the Mendota Sub. due to "no room at the inn (Eola)". Apparently BNSF and IDOT wanted to increase capacity thru Eola before introducing additional Amtrak trains to the Mendota - especially since there would be some Amtrak meets on the Mendota after the Moline service begins.
