Photo help: SP Geeps taking a dive near Suisun Fairfiel
Author: gyralite

I spent quite a while yesterday going through the Static Photography section (didn't get all the way through) and couldn't find a photo that I had seen in there in the past. I'm looking for that famous shot of the SP Geep diving into the Sacramento Delta due to the open bridge near Suisun Fairfield some years back. Does anyone know if it's still in Static Photography or know where I could download a copy? Thanks in advance.

Search the records at this site. The photos were posted on TO about a couple of years ago.

Those are Gene Poon's phots.

I believe they can be found on the Niles Station Museum website also.

The place I saw the shot was in response to Mudrock or somebody else's post about their experience on the first annual Sears Point NASCAR train. Somebody commented "So that old (o/s for years) lift bridge is in good shape?", and in response to that, Gene Poon posted that photo saying "Some folks weren't as lucky!"

The "Admiral" at the helm. Thanks Stash, that's the pic I was looking for. I know it's in TO Static Photography somewhere but I just couldn't find it and all the filters I tried, non worked. Thanks.

>The "Admiral" at the helm.

If your talking about the incident involving GPs, that was "the Commodore", who specifically said he didn't want to be called "Admiral". "The Admiral", a different person, did a similar thing with Baldwins about 30 years earlier. AND the Brazos Bridge is on the Napa River, which is a ways NW of the Delta.

I wasn't sure just where it was but thought near Suisun-Fairfield. In any case, it's the image I was trying to find so again, thanks to all for the help.
