2. WB 504pm manifest train with BNSF 6818-7482 on the pull with a big Hitachi mover behind second locomotive.

21. Caboose motel just south of Dunsmuir, CA off of I-5 on the west side of freeway.
22. Another picture of caboose motel.
23. Old SP target signals still in use on the old SP West Valley route in the Sacramento Valley, west of Willows, CA. The west end of the valley seems to have three light signals. California Northern run on this line now.

That's it for today. Have a great evening everyone and thanks so much for looking.

The final shot is one of my favorite types of photos. Not only does it show trainless tracks fading into the distance, there is a red signal, meaning that a train is somewhere off down that track. Anticipation....

Sounds like you had a great trip. The Dunsmuir area ("The Playground Of The Gods") is fabulous and the caboose motel a classic roadside attraction.

Tor, Dunsmuir is a beautiful area. I used to ride freight trains out of Roseville when I was stationed at Beale AFB in Marysville, CA. from 1967 to early 1970 to Dunsmuir. Lots of covered wagons back then. There was also a crew change at Gerber, CA back then. The old hotel room next to the tracks and station in Dunsmuir were only 3.00 a night. I'm going to miss all the old SP target signals. Glad I was able to catch the target signal lit up.
