Western Railroad Discussion > KCS Belles in Colorado

Due to some cruddy weather, I didn't get a chance to head down to the KCS during my railfan outing 2 weeks ago (that "oyw" needs to get busy posting BTW:}) but since there seems to be an influx of KCS led trains here in Colorado, it somewhat makes up for it!

1)Thanks to a timely heads up from JB back on Oct. 17th, I was able to hustle down to Castle Rock and catch the KCSM 4728 and KCS 4044 leading Northbound coal empty E DOLRWM8 52 on Main #2.

2)On the Beautiful afternoon of Sunday, October 19th I met up with TO member "Hermosa45" to record five Southbound trains passing the last of the Fall colors at Acequia. Train number four was loaded coal train C BTMSPS1 01 led by the KCS 4684 and KCS 4616.

3)This afternoon, Union Pacific ran this empty military train SFRFC-22 (Special-Ft. Riley-Ft. Carson) across the KP line with the KCS 4782, CSXT 8520 and UP 7013, 6588, 4438 seen heading West out of Watkins towards Denver. Sharp eyes will notice the main line to the left of the Grain elevator in the background.

The KCS unit and other power on wb Fort Riley, KS, to Ft Carson train removed at Denver about 1:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2014. Put on two units - UP 8179 delivered at Proviso, IL, July 4, 2014 from GE, on the point. Nice place to hang out!

Just went past Fort Carson to see that military train sitting there strung out in the yard, fully loaded. This month has been rather odd at Fort Carson because they have been keeping all the road power in the yard rather than at Kelker. After this new arrival, there are now 6 UP units, 2 KCS units, and one NS all sitting together on one loading track in the yard. I don't know, it looks odd lol.
