Nice Day Between Storms On The BNSF--Wig-Wags
Author: Ritzville

Today was a nice day between storms, more rain tomorrow in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub at 61 degrees. Here are some of the trains from last evening and today, with a few California trip pics.

1. EB 505p ballast work train with green BN 1412 and orange 1453 slowly sneaking into the Ritzville yard thru neighbors backyard for an overnight stay across from my backyard.
2. Another shot of same train in my backyard.
3. Same train leaving this morning from Ritzville in a slight fog.

Here are some California trip pictures. This set of pictures will focus on Fresno, CA's three active wig-wags installed by SP. These were inter-city tracks and a branch line.

17. Wig-wag #2 located in Hamilton Ave. in Fresno, CA. on inter-city rails serviced by SJV.
18. Wig-wag #3 located on Cherry and Broadway in Fresno, CA on same inter-city rails serviced by SJV.
19. Another angle of same #3 wig-wag.

20. One last shot of wig-wag #3. Sorry I'm a wig-wag fan.
21. Another shot of wig-wag #1 on Van Ness Ave on old SP branch Line run by SJV(San Jouquin Valley).

That's it for today. Thanks so much for looking and have a great evening!

Many nice shots here--I do like #3 ballast train. Good to see the C40-8s out working.

Enjoyed all of your photos and especially the wig-wags with the antique street lamps. If they all work it would make for some interesting night shots.
Thanks for the photos.

I know the wig-wags work, not sure on the street lamps, and I agree with you, it would be a nice shot at night.

Ah! The way you included the tall grass into pictures 13, 14, 15, 16 is very nice looking! Thanks for sharing another day's trains.

That's one thing BNSF has lots of on their property, tall grass, LOL. Thanks for your nice comments.

Thanks for the photos, and more particularly for the wig-wags down in Fresno! In the mid-1980's the San Joaquin Valley was part of my railroad responsibilities and I always enjoyed hunting down the remaining wig-wag crossing signals as a part of my travels there. Judging from the size of the puddles in your photos, it looks like winter storms are finally returning to the Inland Empire. Stay dry and thanks for the continuing photos...

There used to be quite a few wig-wags here and there on the SP branch line out of Fresno that went to Exeter, Dinuba, Reedley, and Lindsay. I believe there is still a wigwag in Oakdale and maybe one in Hanford. I took video of all those back in the 1990's. Hopefully the SJV will keep them around. We have had over an inch of rain thru the last few days, possibly more today on Trick-or Treat day. Always good to hear from you.
