Anybody heard of Mervis Railcar?
Author: unclebob

Guess our city (Hutchinson, KS) landed a new company today, which is great news. But I have never heard of Mervis Railcar. Has anyone else?

I believe this will be out near the Siemens nacelle plant, as the City negotiated some land swamps/rail siding extension about a week ago for a potential customer. This will be near US-50 Highway and Airport Road if the case, which is south of the BNSF (ex-ATSF) Way Yard.

Looks like a new subsidiary of the scrap and recycling company.

Another article. Sounds like tank car work will be their main job. Can't believe they can fit 20,000 ft of track and all these bays in out there, so it will be interesting to watch being built.

This answered my original question: "...the company has a location in Danville, Illinois, specializing in reconditioning railroad castings, including couplers, yokes and side frames."
