Western Railroad Discussion > Flagging the interlocker at Milano, TX-BNSF-UPDate: 11/26/14 16:45 Flagging the interlocker at Milano, TX-BNSF-UP Author: texchief1 BNSF SD70ACe 9206 and IC(CN) SD70 1038 are at the interlocker at Milano, TX on the BNSF Galveston Sub and UP Austin Sub. The BNSF has a red due to UP being in the interlocker circuit and must flag through the interlocker because the UP is swapping lead and 2nd unit and will be there a while. To flag through the conductor has to push a reset button(if you look closely you can see the BNSF conductor's safety vest at the reset box. He will push a reset and then the BNSF will go into the circuit past the signal, but will not cross the interlocker itself. After 5 minutes the BNSF conductor will check UP looking both ways and if it is safe to proceed he then can go through the interlocker and leave. This is a unit loaded oil train and the hopper in the picture is a buffer car. If you go back to Nov. 24 postings, you will see this same train on November 22 on a posting by santafe199-Lance. The date of my photo is Nov. 23, 2014 at 5:18pm. Milano is about 44 miles south of Temple, TX.
Thanks for looking. Randy Lundgren Elgin, TX Date: 11/28/14 08:46 Re: Flagging the interlocker at Milano, TX-BNSF-UP Author: SP8595 Great explanation of the flagging process. Also nice to see that IC engine!
