Western Railroad Discussion > Fall Colors around Marquette Iowa - 2014Date: 11/27/14 07:20 Fall Colors around Marquette Iowa - 2014 Author: robj Since not too many posts
Weekend of 10/11/14, Canadian Pacific(ICE, IMRL,SOO, Milwaukee) 1) Waiting north of yard office at Marquette, Iowa. On the bluff the old highway bridge started off across the Mississippi, the Milwaukee pontoon bridge would nave been a 1/4 mile or so further behind me. 2-3 ) North Grain train at Lansing, Iowa. There is this eclectic store here my wife likes to go to and while I waited. Bob Jordan Date: 11/27/14 07:32 Re: Fall Colors around Marquette Iowa - 2014 Author: robj 4) Along the bluffs just north of Marquette. There is a bunch of cottages on the tiny strip between the railroad and the Mississippi and girl stepped away from a bbq to snap a shot of another northbound.
5)WB - up Bloody Creek next to campground before the fog lifts, get one of these every year. 6) This was from last year, Patch had only a few moths nto go. After 14 years, this was first without Patch. We walked the Waukon branch like always but just not the same. Bob Jordan Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/27/14 09:22 by robj. You also got one of Union Pacific's refurbished SD90/43MAC's leading with the new nose wings on that Grain train. The jointed rail looks a little rough in #4 and they run Oil trains across it and the tracks are within feet of the Mississippi River!

CP has been installing welder rail south from Bluffs in the past few years. Next year there will be 2 new sidings to handle the traffic. We are running oil trains about 4 a week look for the portage coal trains to increase after the first of the year that will take a toll on that jointed rail.
