Western Railroad Discussion > A new addition to the vulcan rock trainDate: 12/21/14 19:05 A new addition to the vulcan rock train Author: tc I wasn't going to chase todays rock train but noticed something out of the ordinary in the middle of the train. usually this train runs with two units point and two DPU but today had a mid train DPU too. Under cloudy skies I only caught this train at lang where they ran out of hours.

Date: 12/21/14 20:43 Re: A new addition to the vulcan rock train Author: tc I have yet to count the cars but when it was sitting a Lang it didn't seem any longer I wonder if metrolink is getting after the up for getting this train up and going out of palmdale loaded. I wonder how this train handles empty with a mid train unit.

So last week, a UP Trainmaster was riding with them to make sure they weren't screwing the pooch. Evidently this is the result of his observation...an extra motor.

Thanks for sharing, ~Ryan Date: 12/21/14 23:38 Re: A new addition to the vulcan rock train Author: trkspd Hope it was a RFE (or whatever UP calls their version of an RFE, MTO?) up there on that motor to see if the crew was truly dogging their train....as a TM has no standing on the operation of a locomotive.

I'm just saying. (I'm retired, which is why I don;t mind saying this, ow I wud prob find a supervisor just accidently wanting to ride along on my next trip.) haha Date: 12/22/14 17:58 Re: A new addition to the vulcan rock train Author: trkspd SLOCOND, I know that he does have jurisdiction over the crew...but he does not have any say in the operation of a locomotive.
& to the other reply, was that supposed to be a negative reply to me? Posted from Android |
