Western Railroad Discussion > Mural Monday . . .Date: 12/22/14 08:03 Mural Monday . . . Author: SCKP187 As always, varying degrees of artwork and accuracy, but great that people put out the effort to paint their town's heritage and what they remember about it.
1. Britt IA, home of the annual Hobo Convention and also has a Hobo Museum in town. 2. Parkersburg IA, this mural located in a display area near an IC depot and caboose. 3. Vinton IA, on the Rock Island with a great depot and caboose display given to the city by IANR (for Depot Friday) Thanks for looking Brian Stevens Date: 12/22/14 09:14 Re: Mural Monday . . . Author: Ritzville Nice murals, I like #1 the best.
Larry Date: 12/22/14 11:39 Re: Mural Monday . . . Author: BruceStikkers I think it is great when communities and individuals remember their railroad heritage with these murals. My son lived in Barstow, CA for 7 1/2 years and I always liked seeing what they had on local buildings when we visited him.
I'll give #1 my vote also. Bruce Stikkers St. Joseph, IL Date: 12/23/14 08:02 Re: Mural Monday . . . Author: ntharalson Notice in #1 that the locomotive is lettered for "Candadian Pacific!" While
accurate for today's operations, a steam engine in Britt would have been a Milwaukee Road engine. And that's still a great mural, the best I've seen. Thanks for posting. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA |
