This summer, I decided to chase the train once again. When I arrived at Felton Yard at 9 AM on Wednesday July 23, 2014, CF7 #2600 was idling away, preparing for an early morning run to Santa Cruz. The train had to make a reverse movement up the rarely used portion of the line to Mount Hermon, where a group from the Christian Retreat Center will board for a trip to the world famous Beach Boardwalk. 1.) Former Santa Fe CF7 2600 shoves up the line in Run 8 2.) We beat the train to Rincon, where the train eases by a group of Hikers 3.) 2600 screams down Chestnut Street Date: 12/22/14 11:25 Re: Revisiting the Mount Hermon Charter Author: NorCalRails32 I decided to try and see if I could beat the train to the Boardwalk and I made it just in time to see it reversing down Beach Street, which is an extremely busy road in the summer time. I waited for the departure and watched 2600 squeeze down Beach Street. As I was putting my camera equipment away, the smell of Garlic Fries was overpowering so I couldn't resist a little treat after a nice morning of railfanning.
4.) 2600 backs to "The Spot". 5.) After dropping off passengers, the train moves swiftly alongside the Boardwalk and passes the entrance to the Casino. |
