Western Railroad Discussion > Was this a standard grade crossing signal?Date: 12/22/14 14:31 Was this a standard grade crossing signal? Author: WrongWayMurphy I ran across this the other day in SE Dallas, town used to be called Kleberg until
Dallas annexed it in the late 70's. Rail line was the Texas & New Orleans' (SP) Jacksonville Sub. Tracks were pulled up in the 80's. It this a typical grade crossing, with light housings just twisted around , or is it something else? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/22/14 14:33 by WrongWayMurphy. Date: 12/22/14 15:33 Re: Was this a standard grade crossing signal? Author: LarryDoyle Is this on live track? I always thought the rule was "If you've got it - it has to work." I suspect this one doesn't work.
In addition, it appears that some big model railroaders hand needs to come back and straighten the power pole in the back. -John Date: 12/22/14 16:23 Re: Was this a standard grade crossing signal? Author: toledopatch LarryDoyle Wrote:

Author: BoilingMan You guys can make fun, but he has a point- that base cabinet IS kind of unusual. I've never really paid a lot of attention to crossing gates, but I can't remember seeing a base like that.

Author: ATSF100WEST Can't speak as to others, but very common on the SP and UP out west, which mostly went away when they went to the larger flashers and fiberglass gates (versus "A" frame wooden gates). Think it was a General Railroad Signal device.

Just surprising they didn't remove it. Rob |
