I guess you didn't question the 200 mph?

This was a mp4 file from my iPhone of one of the many recorded inaccurate axle counts of the MP-591 detector on the KCS Alliance sub. It was not from this train but from another train a couple of months ago for added humor. And yes, this detector has issues. Its not always playing with a full deck.

Is that a line side engine horn sound?

The sound is an alarm at the crossing gates. This crossing is a no blow crossing and the alarm sounds when the gates are activated.

It is called a wayside horn, (automatic horn systems) used in quiet zone areas. Once the crossing gates are activated, it sounds the two long, one short and one long as if the locomotive is blowing its horn.

They've got some of those on the UP in Nebraska, such as at Scott's Bluff and Kearney
