Western Railroad Discussion > Plenty of Wind on the Cimarron.....Date: 01/30/15 06:53 Plenty of Wind on the Cimarron..... Author: wyemarsh On Tuesday, Jan. 27, while traveling through southwest Kansas, I spotted the Cimarron Valley RR mixed freight heading towards Montezuma, Satanta and points west.
Photo #1 - The CVRR ambling along about 10 mph past a couple of the many wind electrical generator towers comprising the Gray County Wind Farm that covers a lot of farmland in the area. Photo #2 - CVRR end car clearing the crossing....lot of rock ballast used on this line in an effort to anchor the ties and rails to the earth! Photo #3 - ....and CVRR with about 25-30 cars slowing moving towards Montezuma, KS. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/30/15 15:27 by wyemarsh. Is that another railroad line at far left in the last photo?
