All these signals have been replaced with the newer "hooded" signals and all the signal bridges are gone except for the one at the BNSF junction at Chemult. Most of the intermediate signals have also been removed but there have been a few new signals added at intermediate points. I enjoyed looking at these photos even though I see them all the time.

New name, new signals. That's how it works.

Anybody remember the URL for the website that had photos of all the SP signals? It's not Joel's site but it may linked on there.

Wow! Fabulous tour! If only we had the Shasta Daylight back! You could have made those shots from the parlor observation car! :)

Thanks, Chris, for your usual fine work. The signals have now become fallen flags.

All great Chris, but I expected to see a shot of the Salt Creek trestle
uphill (westbound) from McKredie Springs.

Wow - Great coverage! How many mainline water plugs can there be like the one at Wicopee? Might that be a one-of-a-kind? === === = === JLH

Wonderful!
These scenes are quite available every day, the Starlight is normally run with the coaches on the rear. I have spent an hour riding and looking out the rear door window almost every trip over the pass, I never tire of it. (But I do tire of the very dirty glass.)
One change with the new signals is that a red LED signal aspect seems to saturate my digital camera's sensor and it comes out orange-white. It was fun to see really red signals.

Way late on this, but thanks for these pictures. Those old signal structures had a lot of character, compared to the new nearly identical "hoods"

Thanks for posting. I road this route twice in 2009. In 1985 to 1990 I use to hunt theĀ
high cascades and run the back roads in my CJ7,found the water tank up on top where
the spout is. Is the tank still there?........great memories......Swede.......Albany,Or.
