None got repainted, and I think they got 7500 series numbers, but I'll have to check. They didn't last long on the BNSF. Almost made a bad mistake here and write about the SD45-2's, some of which remain stored at Temple, TX, on their second BNSF number. ATSF 5501 was part of the group of SD45's and F45's sold to MK just before the merger, so it never got a BNSF number or BNSF paint. After a few years on lease to BNSF, MotivePower grafted an MK5000C cab onto it, upgraded it to an "SD50-3," and leased it to DM&E for a few years. Last I heard, MPEX 5000 was still hanging around Boise. ATSF 5502(2) stayed with BNSF until late 2000, but appears to have been out of service and in storage since at least mid-1999, see: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3761412 . It was assigned the number 7503 in the BNSF numbering scheme, but never got patched or repainted. ntharalson wrote: > Almost made a bad mistake here and write about the SD45-2's, > some of which remain stored at Temple, TX, on their second > BNSF number. The two SD45-2B's that were at Temple, BNSF 6522 and 6523, found their way to Topeka last year: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3546733,3546892#3546892 Don't know if they're still there or if they have been sent off for genset conversion. I shot it at NRE in Mount Vernon, Illinois during the summer of 2001 or 2002 still in full ATSF colors.
