According to a BNSF engineer friend, apparently there was a big rock-slide and it de-railed two locomotives, both lines are blocked. Light power was run to Williams to pick up four crews who tied down on the main in the mean time. No ETA at the moment on re-opening the line.

We have been getting very heavy rain off and on all morning here in the Rim Country (Payson, AZ)

Storm is coming from the southwest and it is warm (44 deg) at 5,000 ft.

Should change to snow on the backside.

Snow in Flagstaff.

1st Off Perrin is at Railroad Mile Marker 384 about 4 miles west of Airport Road in Williams. It not the 1st time that a Rock slide happen on the 1960 by pass line or the last! Worse 1 was 04/05/1964 at Doublea when ATSF Psgnr train 123 killing 3 injury 33.

Amtrak 4 was actually Amtrak 3 turned around at Flagstaff and assumed #4's schedule. #4 likewise turned at Kingman. Passengers bussed betweeen Kingman-Flagstaff. Amtrak #3 from last night arrived Flagstaff about 4am, unloaded passengers to busses, then backed east to Purina and used one of the sidings to run the power around the train. Then backed back west to the Flagstaff depot to wait for the busses from Kingman. Now running as #4, they finally departed about 11:05 am.

Westbounds tied down at Bootlegger Road (Williams Jct.), Challender (2 trains), Maine, Bellemont, Darling (2 on main, one in yard), Dennison (2). Train in Darling yard is Q train, power cut off last night and run light west to Williams Jct, picking up crews off trains at Bellemont, Maine and Challender and ferrying them to Williams Jct to board taxis. Light power put away in the small siding at Williams Jct. A similar move was made with the eastbounds east of Perrin with power cutting off a train and retreiving crews.

Most of the S-LBLLPC train has been dragged west to the siding at Valentine using power off a following eastbound train.

Sounds like Winslow is starting to release westbound Z trains, so one track may be opening very soon.

Correct. S PERVAL1 02A to Valentine, AZ with 85 Cars. Looks like only 2 cars derailed and the power.

So did they have to turn the power at the wye by the station? Amtrak typically runs their power elephant style. Interesting events on the Seligman!

Power was not turned at Flagstaff. They used one of the three sidings at Railhead/Purina to run the power around the train. Suspect they turned a unit at ABQ, they had plenty of time.
