Western Railroad Discussion > UP passenger cars

This morning I was stopped at a crossing in Elk Grove, Ca. For a train made up of UP passenger cars. I did not see the Sunset although I did notice several observation cars mixed throughout the train. The train was southbound toward Stockton. Does anyone know what this was? Possibly a UP Officers special or maybe they were ferrying business cars somewhere

It's a UP Officers Special or Business Special or whatever the appropriate term is. There are passengers onboard, probably executive level people. Its ultimate destination is Port of Long Beach.

Kinda cool you stumbled onto the train. With that luck, how about playing the lottery?

What time did the train come through Elk Grove?

If you follow the link in the reply above by cchan006 you can see pictures of the train in the Roseville yard yesterday (posted by SPJoe). The Sunset is in the consist, almost in the middle.

Just about 7 am at Bond rd.
