Little action at Echo
Author: DRGW3014

After a rare snow storm yesterday in northern Utah this winter decided to take a trip up Weber Canyon and Echo Canyon . On the way up Weber Canyon did not see much in the canyon entail I got to Echo there was at Echo local LUJ51 east holding main at Echo took photo of the local and moved up the canyon to see more not much going on do track work at Curvo came back Echo just as local was pulling off main to do work at Echo and wait for LUJ61 coming from Evanston Wyoming . A empty Eastbound Grain Train pulled up just west of Echo and waited for local clear the main and up the canyon the Grain Train went. Little slow but nice to get out.

Thanks
Craig

Nice stuff, Craig! It's always good to be able to get out and take advantage of what Mother Nature provides!

Great series of shots! It's hard to beat winter scenes like that, and you captured the action well using appealing compositions. Keep 'em coming!

Great shots, I really like #3! Strange to see no buffer car on the local?

Nice photos. Appears that those two old SD40s have been assigned to that job for years as I phtographed them there in 2010.

Nice to see that the 3212 and 3214 still have their original numbers and number boards from over 40 years ago.

Back in the early 70's when I started railfaning with my dad up Weber Canyon the UP 3200's SD40-2 were the newest thing on Union Pacific that makes me fill old.

Nice photos Craig, looks like the snow didn't last long up there either. We sure could use some more here in Utah.

Finally, someone found a good use for that pile of ballast at horse crossing in Echo. Seriously though, a wonderful series of shots along UP's historic Echo Canyon route. I'd all but given up on snow this year. You have renewed my hope.
