Western Railroad Discussion > VAWBAR?Date: 04/23/15 23:10 VAWBAR? Author: strench707 I saw what I am completely guessing is an H VAWBAR on Tehahchapi today carrying a cut of racks up front. Is this common practice on this train? The lead engine was 6611 if anyone else saw it. Anyone able to confirm its ID?
Thanks! Davis Date: 04/23/15 23:31 Re: VAWBAR? Author: Trains232 M-FRSBAR4-23A
Date: 04/24/15 06:06 Re: VAWBAR? Author: sums007 The H-VAWBAR is a pretty common train, though. They ran 25 of them in January.

I don't know which train ferries the cars to/from FRS to BAR. When too many extra cars accumulate, apparently they run an extra MFRSBAR4. The auto racks may be bad ordered, othwerwise I'd expect them to be on a VRICxxx. mapboy Date: 04/24/15 12:50 Re: VAWBAR? Author: zchcsse strench707 Wrote:

Well, there was also an H-VAWBAR3A in January so that one isn't. A shorty. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 04/24/15 16:26 by sums007. Date: 04/24/15 14:11 Re: VAWBAR? Davis Posted from iPhone Date: 04/26/15 09:24 Re: VAWBAR? Author: strench707 Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's my current understanding.
1 - Scheduled train, default. 2 - Scheduled train, scheduled second section. 3 - Scheduled train, unscheduled extra section. 4 - Unscheduled train. I guess BNSF's system makes unscheduled trains look inconspicuous with a normal looking symbol, just carrying a 4. On UP, a BNSF 3 and 4 type situation would both just carry an X on the end, and the only way to know if its an unscheduled train vs an unscheduled extra section is if you never regularly see that origin/destination pair (making it like a 4), or if its an extra of a common train (making it like a 3). BNSF's highly informative symbol layout continues to impress me. This brings sense to when you occassionally see an M RRBPAS4, because the M RRBPAS isn't a regularly operating service. Good to now know. Thanks again everyone for the clearification here, Davis Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 04/26/15 09:26 by strench707. Date: 04/26/15 09:53 Re: VAWBAR? Good to now know. But wait! There were quite a few H RRBPAS1s in November and December, 2014, and maybe other times. > Davis On UP, there's the ZLAMQ. If they had to detour it, it'd be a ZLAMQD. But on Tuesday, there's the ZLAMQ2 (2= Tuesday, 1= Monday, and so on). But sometimes on Tuesdays, they run a second section, the 2ZLAMQ2. On Wednesdays, they run an alternate version, the ZLAMQB (different routing or blocking or ?). Sometimes they just need to run an extra, a ZLAMQX. mapboy Date: 04/26/15 13:49 Re: VAWBAR? Author: strench707 I was more comparing manifests to manifests. I'm aware that both UP and BNSF have different designating systems for their respective Z train operations.
