Western Railroad Discussion > A Week Around Kansas CityDate: 04/24/15 11:11 A Week Around Kansas City Author: CP_M260 Over the past week, I've caught a few interesting trains in and around Kansas City on the BNSF and UP. Below is a 'sampler' of my favorite twelve photos.
Enjoy! A little over a week ago, Union Pacific ran a PDICB3 16 (Passenger - Dallas Intermodal [Wilmer, TX] - Council Bluffs, IA) North during daylight. I was able to intercept it a total of 5 times, with three locations being shared here. 1. Greely, KS (A shot I've been dying to get...) 2. Osawatomie, KS 3. Bucyrus, KS Photos 1-3 taken 4/17 Date: 04/24/15 11:16 Re: A Week Around Kansas City Author: CP_M260 4. A yard transfer from BNSF's Murray to BNSF's Argentine Yard rolls through the Old Union Depot Interlocker in downtown Kansas City behind a quintet of EMD products - 4/22
5. UP train GMMAMS 20 (Grain - New Orleans, LA [CSXT Interchange] - Brewster, MN) tackles Shannon Hill, just North of Atchison, KS with a UP C45AH and an off-line CSXT SD40-2 - 4/22 6. Relocating a bit to the North, we catch the grain train rolling through the community of Everest, KS. At one time, the CRI&P crossed the MOP main line with a wooden trestle at this location. Armour along BNSF's St. Joseph Subdivision - Rushville, MO - 4/22
8. In the final seconds of sunlight, Iola, TX coal loads roll into the siding at W. Sadler with a soot-covered SD70MAC bringing up the rear - Iatan, MO - 4/22 Yesterday, I recieved word that UP's Susan G. Komen 'pink ribbon' locomotive - UP 7400 - was leading train IDULB 23 (Intermodal - Dupo, IL - Long Beach, CA) West. After waiting for about 90 minutes, the train left Neff Yard in Kansas City and I chased it West, catching it 4 times before heading back home. 9. Rolling under the BNSF mainline at Hannibal Crossing - CP K284 Broadway - Kansas City, MO - 4/23 Date: 04/24/15 11:28 Re: A Week Around Kansas City Author: CP_M260 10. W. 57th Street Grade Crossing - Kansas City, KS
11. From the parking lot of the Moon Marble Co. (Not an official railroad location...) - Bonner Springs, KS 12. CP Z021 - Loring - Loring, KS Thanks for looking, -Dalton Date: 04/24/15 11:33 Re: A Week Around Kansas City Author: billio Good stuff!!

MC Columbia, Missouri Date: 04/24/15 14:45 Re: A Week Around Kansas City Author: santafe199 The shot at Bucyrus is outstanding. Perfect balance of train & clouds! This gets my shout-out for IOTD!!! Good job with the 7400, also. We got a near-dark desperation grab shot down near old Valencia siding W of Topeka.
(But it was fun finally getting to meet Mr. "SD45X" for the 1st time, and his wife "Guernseygirl" again. Along w/ "mg8711" we all had dinner @ Texas Roadhouse in Topeka) Lance Date: 04/24/15 15:25 Re: A Week Around Kansas City Author: ns1000 GREAT pics!! Thanks for posting.
