Holdrege NE, currently an Amtrak stop around mid-night has a sprawling  area complete with business car Pecos at the west end and on the east end is located with a track speeder and acessory equipment as well as a CB&Q caboose.

In July of 2011 I passed through Holdrege on my way to a wedding in Montana. I was delightred to discover the building seen dead-center in your image #2 still had the name "Zephyr" attached. But in 2011 it was a laundry, instead of the Cafe it was back in the 80's. Did you by chance notice the building when you were there? It's the light gray looking building with the black stripe around the upper part. Here's a link to my thread from 4 years ago:

Did you see the sickle momer for a RR? Must have attached to the front of a motor car. That is the only one I've ever seen. upkpfan

Thanks for looking and commenting. I noticed the Zephyr building because that is where I parked the car and then went walking around the grounds taking photos.
And as Marvin mentioned--there is a sickle mower attachment on the auxiliary MofW equipment--what a neat way to keep the right of way trimmed up.
