Western Railroad Discussion > Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speedDate: 04/24/15 18:32 Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: RustyRayls 1. After the crew on the 46 local tied their train down in the yard this eastbound manifest blew through.
2. The view looking down the yard tracks. Old Bob out in Lost Wages Date: 04/24/15 18:55 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: DynamicBrake Nice pair there Bob. Yeah, that first shot looks like the 6871 is "getting with the program." That second shot is a dandy also. Thanks for sharing.

traffic but it would seem that one yard would suffice. Out Date: 04/24/15 19:45 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: northridgeswitcher Bob:
Where are the yards in reference to the strip or I15? Thank you. Northridge Switcher Date: 04/24/15 20:01 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: vegasrails Valley Yard is north of the strip, and is between range road to the north of Valley with Lamb Blvd to the south. Near Nellis AFB, 215 intersection ( with I-15).
Arden yard is south of the strip off of Blue Diamond road and soon to be Jones Blvd with the move of the yard office to that location late next month. Date: 04/24/15 20:09 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: northridgeswitcher Ken:
Thank you. Northridge Switcher Date: 04/24/15 20:09 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: catalantalgo Valley yard has the oddity of being stub-ended. The stub-end is also about 25 feet up in the air. Gives you an idea of the grade the mainline is on when you compare the yard to the main.

Has anything ever been shoved past the bumper post and down the embankment? Date: 04/24/15 23:45 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: vegasrails Hmmm should I comment? I wonder if the reason for the two small yards was because of the closing of the downtown yard; "we have a few tracks north of town, and a few tracks south of town, so that should work...". Then later, additional tracks added later at each place. Does UP still operate a small intermodal facility, I think it was at the Valley yard? I wonder how much business it gets? There is a small intermodal ramp, a medium sized auto unloading area and a team track that handles mostly construction materials (rebar & lumber). There is also a cement transfer plant (rail to trucks) belonging to Ashdown Cement and an industril area on the other side of the freeway. Bob Edited 1 time(s). At Thanksgiving, EMD end cab switcher ECRX 7229 switched the facility. ECRX is Econo-Rail, which is now Trans-Global Solutions.

My trucker operates this ramp, a very nice operation. gmojim Date: 04/25/15 12:16 Re: Valley Yard, Las Vegas, EB Manifest @ track speed Author: gmojim mapboy Wrote:
