Trona Railway Rock-n-Rollin
Author: gjc

This is day three of a three day railfan trip with TO member Cajon92.  We had originally planned to spend all three days at Tehachapi Pass, CA.  With a work window, wind and clouds at Tehachapi around 8am we decided to head towards the desert.  Our first stop was Boron. CA.  Around 11am we headed over to Trona, CA.  We arrived at Trona about noon, but the outbound train to Searles didn't leave the plant until 2:50pm.  We ended up catching the train at five different locations, three on the way to Searles (Westend, east of Pinnacles and east of Garden City), once when it was leaving Searles and one last time at Pinnacles.  Not bad for my first time out there.  This video was taken about 3pm at Westend on 5/18/15.

Wow that was cool!  So, do they have a "no open containers" policy on beverages on the Trona?  ;)

That camcorder is really sharp.  Excellent picture.

I take it those cars were empty. Sure wouldn't want to go that fast with loads.

Those were indeed loads of potash heading for the Union Pacific at Searles.

Excellent video, George. It was a fun day for sure getting to rock 'n roll with the Trona Road. Looking forward to more from the trip.

An intesting video.  I thought you dubbed in barking seals instead of railroad sounds.  8>)

All they need to do is speed up a bit. That will change the sway to bouncing up and down...  Great video!
