This old veteran has been hanging around Nacogdoches (TX) for years.  Occasionally she is moved about
but mostly sitting on a MOW track adjacent to the yard.  A close up of the gennie in this third pic.

One day I took a sip of St. Johns Wort and .....

.... the next thing I know she is reborn and trailing local trains all over the Rabbit. She was spotted
again today on a eastbound in the Appleby siding.

They should have kept going and painted it in Kodachrome with SPUP lettering.

The thing almost looks like a Chessie bay window.  Nice catch!  Say what you will of the new paint, but it certainly looks better.

Nice to see stuff kept up and get repainted even if SP looks a little strange in those colors. I'm surprised the windows and doors aren't welded over.

it is used as a caboose in the traditional way, not as a shoving platform.

The " local" covers over 100  miles switching various industries along the way

Technically, it's not UP 4609.  It still has SP reporting marks, so that's what it is.  Just a new color for SP.

Wish this happen to many of the other former hacks used as shove cars and for other purposes around the country.

Gather that UP painted the car or perhaps local railroad group.

Me too. I am on a work train here on the BNSF Gateway Sub and we have the BN 12569 cab. We park at Westwood CA and over the weekend some brats threw rocks at it and broke one of the sliding cupola windows. It's a damn shame too because it's a near mint caboose and the chances of getting a replacement window are slim to none.

They should make it more interesting by putting the "Be Specific Ship Union Pacific" logo on the side.
