I'm curious. What percent of the entire UP workforce is this or for that matter train crews? Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/28/15 20:13 by wabash2800. Author: fbe Thirty years and longer back most operating department employees planned on being furloughed a couple of times a year for the first 5-10 years of their employment. That was the norm and most brakemen held a second job at a grain elevator, gas station, ranch or farm. Some worked construction or could work for a railroad in another state.
