Western Railroad Discussion > A rare one for Flare FridayDate: 05/29/15 09:44 A rare one for Flare Friday Author: 2ebright I caught this ex. SP unit at Helper, Utah this past Monday; Memorial Day. I think it is a GP40P-2 originally built for comuter service in the Bay Area. It is coupled to a pair of SD40N's that are usually used for Dirt Train power.

No comments about the quality of some passengers, though. Posted from Windows Phone OS 7 Date: 05/29/15 10:32 Re: A rare one for Flare Friday Author: Albrae 2ebright Wrote:

These three ultimately spelled the end for the last operating Fairbanks-Morse H24-66 Train Masters. UP 1373, ex SP 7601, nee SP 3198 b/n 74619-2 blt. Regards, Jim Evans Date: 05/29/15 11:04 Re: A rare one for Flare Friday Author: Notch16 Because of its unique status and history, the unit deserves a preservation effort and eventual restoration. SP 6051, CSRM's E9, and SP 5623, PLA's "Torpedo Boat" GP9, are otherwise the sole surviving preserved, restored, and operational SP passenger diesels. Regrettably, no other E-units, no PAs, no FP7s, and no Train Masters made it.

Being re-painted UP is shame enough ;-) But for the first 6 months of its career, it and the other 2 GP40P-2s spent the majority of their time hauling freight between Portland and Roseville Elizabeth Date: 05/29/15 13:06 Re: A rare one for Flare Friday Author: SCKP187 Here it is on the Salina KS-Junction City KS local at Abilene KS and Solomon KS respectively back around 2008.

Plus the Napa Valley Wine Train's Canadian built. Larry Dodgion Wilsonville, OR Date: 05/30/15 05:16 Re: A rare one for Flare Friday Author: billio fbe Wrote:
