Western Railroad Discussion > Late heads upDate: 06/07/15 14:58 Late heads up Author: SD45X The ZWSPSBD went west yesterday with 4 new GEVOs elephant style. I'M guessing t hey are somewhere headed eashave now.
Also another SLRG GP40-2*#@$ whatever MK made it was set out at Trinidad CO yesterday. Not sure what the plan is to get it to Walsenburg. And the TXNW 109 was set out at Pueblo as well. Should go to Avondale to the TTX facilities I think. They have two ex ATSF GP20s already. Another won't hurt:) And the Tier 4 demos should be put in Transcon service soon on BNSF. Edited 1 time(s). Posted from Android Date: 06/07/15 19:32 Re: Late heads up Author: degilchr GP40FH-2 for the SLRG 4141. BNSF brought the 4141 along with 5 Santa Fe high level passenger cars, one SLRG full length dome and two SLRG commuter cars and interchanged to SLRG which took the train out of Walsenburg around 14:30 local time. SLRG cars named 'Eastern Flyer'. Five Santa Fe, Amtrak high levels had reporting mark of 'DLT'. I can find only 'DLTX' with the name of Dale L. Thornborough and no other information. Found a posting for these car's dated April 17, 2004 with pictures and reference to John Radovich owner of John's Cars in Dallas as owner. Interiors in Purple, worst color treatment ever!
High level cars on today's train - 39949 Coach, 39963 Coach, 39947 Coach, 39948 Diner - Lounge, 39918 Dorm - Coach. Thanks for the info and photos of the 5 El Capitan Hi-Levels! One small correction: the diner is #39984, not #39948. Date: 06/08/15 05:39 Re: Late heads up Author: eee DALT is the Dallas Terminal Railway, Dallas Texas, owner of the hi-levels.
We delayed the start of the Eastern Flyer to work with Tulsa and Oklahoma City to see if it is possible to get the train into the two downtowns, so we brought the cars back for the summer. The hi-levels were used on Polar Express in Lubbock and will likely run for Rails and Ales in a couple of weeks. We have over 900 tickets sold for that event and thanks to the hi-levels we will likely have record ridership this year. We bought seven of the ex-NJT GP40FH-2's, and four are for Colorado. The Colorado four have been regeared for freight but still have their HEP units so they can be used for both freight and passenger on the SLRG. I think trying to get directly into the two downtowns is essential for this service to have a chance of success. I hope you're successful in doing so.
