From the Current Road Trip . . .
Author: SCKP187

1.    Yesterday while following Hwy 30 and the UP main line west in Nebraska I would ocassionally remember from previous trips a location that I thought would be a great spot if there was only a train present. This occured about 3 miles east of Potter NE through an S curve--this time as I rounded the curve I spotted a distant headlight, made a u-turn and captured UP 8355-CREX 1207-UP 6249-CSX 8879 leading an eastbound through the elevated S curve.
2.    I always liked the park-like atmosphere of Lodge Pole NE and this time there was an eastbound within a few minutes as UP 6851 and 2 other GEs glide through the shadows of the Lodge Pines.
3&4. Today's trek was eastbound on the KP with an unusually good day of 5 trains between Denver and Salina. One of the great thing about the foothills and hog backs of western Kansas is the ability to shoot the entire train as well as remnants from the previous town in the background as UP 5656-7127 charge up the hill at Monument KS.
