Here's an empty eastbound unit grain train on the sweeping curve south of Conrad, Montana as seen in the morning hours of June 25, 2015.

Along the old Great Falls & Canada, one of the few lines in northern Montana not built by the CPR or GN. Backed by the Galt family, it was part of the system which originated with the narrow gauge line from Dunmore AB to Lethbridge, and then expanded south to Great Falls with a couple other branches in southern Alberta. The primary purpose was getting coal to market from the mines around Lethbridge; the railroads replaced wagon teams and riverboats as the preferred method of transport for Galt coal. Nice shot from a lightly railfanned area!
