Recent Trip to Tennessee Pass
Author: ts2100

I visited various locations of Tennessee Pass yesterday (7-2). The first three photos were taken at the south entrance of Tenn. Pass Tunnel.

Great photos!

I don't think I've ever seen as many rail joints in 1 short stretch of track as in that 3rd photo!

Wow, great photos! We can only dream about seeing this line restored, but I am glad the rails are still in place. Doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Thanks for posting.

The ties are becoming bleached out dead wood, aren't they? And how did that boulder wind up on the track in the middle of no-where-close to the mountain side ? And the official count now is what? 20 years dead or is it just 19?

Trust me, if there was any legal way to get one of mine on this we'd have done it by now.

Thanks for the photos.  Photographing unused lines and a little bit of history along with that interests me.  Appreciates your efforts.  I need to go there someday and take a little walk.

I noticed several signal heads missing at the south side of the pass.

I assume the line still gets visited by UP to confirm it is still intact!

Someone put the boulder there, although I'm not sure why. The line closed 18 years ago next month - August 23rd, 1997.
