Where do we look?

Last I heard, one  12-1010J3 V12 4  cycle block(new label for the 265H block) had passed stationary testing at LsGrange and was to be shipped to Muncie. It was to be installed in the first of 5 Tier 4 demo's. How much is true and how much is rumor, I don't know.
GE Tier 4 units have yet to be certified.

Once the new engine is done with static testing and placed in some demo units, I would guess they will have lots of instrumentation to measure their performance. How long does it take to get certified once the road testing starts?

If GE has not been certified for Tier 4, why are they now in full blown production of said units at Erie and Fort Worth? There's a recent video on the tube of the erecting hall at erie showing several in production and another with three CN units on the test track.  I believe GE received Tier 4 certification at the beginning of the year. How else would they have got away with the hundreds of credit units they built?

There many BNSF tier 4 units awaiting delivery at Fort Worth. For every tier 3 unit delivered in 2015, they have to match that production with Tier 4 units.

GE has not been certified for Tier 4, don't know what the hold up is?

Where's Alamode and Labiche when you need them. They seem to have the answers to everything related to this matter.

General Electric"s web pages declare that their Evolution series locomotives are Tier 4 Certified.

If GE units were certified, Railway Age would make it  big news, so far they haven't.

There has been no official certification of GE's tier 4 units or Railway Age would have made it big news.

The units that have sold are Tier 3 Credit units.  They must sell an equal number ot Tier 4 units by years end.  I wonder what will happen if they cannot.

Just checked.  No certification listed yet.

I think part of the farm bill winding through Congress postpones Tier 4 standards and PTS for a year or more.

I believe the delays are part of this legislation but they are not mentioned in this article. Perhaps someone with better legislative search skills might bring it up.

Thanks.

Selling them and running them in service may be two completely different things.

I must be missing something but is this a GE tier 4 certification?: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/datafiles/FGETG0958EFX-009.PDF

Looking at the EPA database this seems to relate to engine models: ES44C4T4T, ES44ACT4T and the engine emissions data quoted is better than tier 4. Database in the file "loco15.xls" onpage http://www.epa.gov/otaq/certdata.htm#nrci

Sorry if I miss something here.

cheers

Yep that is the real deal, one official certificate of compliance. It should be noted it was issued late last year so those looking for magazine confirmation should probably look in the Feb or Mar issues, or they dropped the ball all together and didn'y report it.

The certificate shown as having GE conform lists emissions numbers which are consistent with CFR 40 1033.101
which reflects those values as meeting Tier IV. I dunno, looks like a certification to me.

Out

I suspect what we are seeing here is for the Tier 4 credit units.

No certification has been issued for GE tier 4 units-when it does happen, it will be big news.
