Santa Fe GP60Ms sighted in Spokane
Author: 70ACE

Just for those of you interested in former santa fe units, two GP60Ms (125, 155) were handed off to the UP at Spokane"s Erie St. Yard this morning by the Erie Switch.  I don't know how soon the UP picked them up, or when they might head south (both were facing west). Their paint jobs were still in relatively good shape.

Sorry, no pics allowed on work time.

Mike, the GP60M's will be sent south on the M-SKHK, then they will catch a ride on a train east to M-K at Boise, ID....

Interesting. Why couldn't they have been handed off to the UP before they crossed over the Columbia River and gone direct to Boise on the UP MAIN?

Because nothing ever makes sense on the railroad...

Yes, they are going to Boise for PTC installation.

Because they would have to pay UP more to move them the longer distance.

I was going to speculate that if they traveled on more than one rr, then the gov't would pick up the tab and charge us taxpayers! What do you think the mileage difference would be after traveling down from Spokane via Hinkle?
