Western Railroad Discussion > Double Western Pacific Heritage on the KP todayDate: 08/04/15 15:27 Double Western Pacific Heritage on the KP today Author: SP8595 This morning, Union Pacific's Heritage engine painted in the Western Pacific scheme, the UP 1983 was on the point of empty Grain train GSGHCW-01 (Grain-Goshen Jct.-Cheyenne Wells) that departed Denver on the KP (old Kansas Pacific) line heading Eastbound out of Denver.
With one stingy cloud that would not move from in front of the Sun and a lot of track that was heading straight into the Sun, it was at times a tough and frustrating chase! Nine Pictures total will be posted......................... 1)Having just made the turn from traveling South on the Greeley Sub. to heading East on the KP line at the 36th St. yard, the UP 1983 passes a station under construction on the new commuter line that travels from Denver Union Station out to Denver International Airport. 2)Having been burned at multiple locations by that one cloud, I did find some muted light conditions as the train rolls down a hill into Watkins. Finally breaking free of the cloud cover and into clear skies, it was now late morning and high Sun angles:{ 3)Crossing the bridge over Middle Bijou Creek, West of Deer Trail. Six More Pictures Posted below.................. Date: 08/04/15 15:28 Re: Double Western Pacific Heritage on the KP today Author: SP8595 4)Rolling along East of Deer Trail.
5)Smoking it up as it passes the Agate station sign and gets a run for the hill up to Buick. 6)Snaking through the curves just East of the siding at Buick. The cars in the background are a set of empty coal cars that have been stored in the Buick siding for over a year:{ Three More Pictures Posted Below..................... Edited 1 time(s). 8)Approaching Limon, the entire 101 car train is seen 9)Oh Yea, the second Western Pacific Heritage of the day was in the form of covered hopper car 12066 the third car from the rear of the train:} Always nice to get a Heritage leader, even if the Sun wasn't at prime angles.
