My favorite commuter train, RDC. As a young boy (many years ago) I lived about a mile from the old Budd Company Red Lion plant that built those great cars and would often walk a short distance to where they would park them on the "ready" track for shipment to customers. I could walk right up to them and place my hand on them. What an experience.

Thanks so much for these pictures and a walk back in time.

In  late summer in 1970 I was priviledged to ride a BC Railway RDC from Pemberton to N. Vancouver through Squamish.  Wow, what a cool ride.  And they did indeed run a motorcar a few minutes ahead to look out for rockslides in the spectacular canyon. So I'm very happy that a few of these venerable Cadillacs (solidly built) are alive and kicking.
