Cornhusker Clouds #2
Author: santafe199

Last month I had the opportunity to photograph one of the more interesting sunsets I’d seen in quite a long time. And Uncle Pete was gracious enough to send me a rush of eastbound trains with that magnificent western Nebraska backdrop! This is the 3rd of 5 total trains in a 50 minute block (8:12 ~ 9:02 PM). It was right after this train that I had to scramble the few miles on into Sidney, NE to pay for my motel room. The good folks at “Sleep 4 Less” were kind enough to hold the room a bit beyond the normal reservation time for this loony railfan. With room key in hand I was right back out to shoot 2 more trains…

1. UP Colton, NE scene looking west at a headlight which will eventually turn into…

2. …UP 5849 leading a string of eastbound reefers. This train is moving…

3. …very s-l-o-w-l-y because it’s right on the block of UP 7730*. All 3 photos were taken in a 3 minute span on August 14, 2015.

Thanks for looking!
