Western Railroad Discussion > Union Pacific grain train on the Kansas & OklahomaDate: 09/01/15 16:43 Union Pacific grain train on the Kansas & Oklahoma Author: superfleet Heard an unusual horn blowing on the K&O main line from Wichita to Great Bend so I figured it was one of the UP grain trains headed out of town on Sunday afternoon. I am really enjoying seeing these big 6-axle units on this former Mopac line that the UP divested (to the Central Kansas Railway and then they sold it to the Watco group who established the Kansas & Oklahoma), and sure enough we had three UP units headed in a westerly direction out of Wichita.
I chased the train to the edge of town and the train tied-up at about 151st West and 53rd St N near the small berg of Colwich, probably headed onward to Great Bend on Monday. I have not seen the train return through Wichita but it surely has returned and moved over to the UP tracks for passage south to Texas. Enjoy! Dan |
