When they get to looking like that, many cities look at having it removed from city property, usually to a scrapper unless a group steps up to cosmetically restore it. I don't know how close the ATSF 2926 in ABQ was to being removed from the park before the NM Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society was formed to rescue it. Now after 15 years, she's within a few months of being fired up. You are correct, sir. The museum people wanted a steam locomotive for their outdoor display and got this one from Sterling. They do keep it cosmetically up, and we should be grateful it's there.
