Good News for the ex DRGW
Author: jc76

It appears the drilling business has picked up a bit... I caught this heavy 72 car train of mostly (if not all) sand pull the grade near Tunnel One. The train had 6 big AC motors, set up 3x3. The swings are just out of sight to the left.  The train was making about 13 mph on the climb.... This is one of the heavier trains I have witnessed climb the east slope of the Colorado Rockies.  The train was somewhat reminiscent of grain trains the DRGW once ran up the hill....

The train passes the Bureau of Mines Coal Air-Lift Hydrohoist. Stanley Lake is in the background.....

It sounded beautiful climbing the 2-percent grade. I caught the same train further up the hill on Sunday, September 27.

Nice shots.
