As mentioned below, many of us Okie railfans met up with SP8595 and his dad down on the Heavener Sub Saturday, working our way south. KCS helped out by running a good amount of trains, many of which didn't lack variety. Here's some of my results.

1) A northbound GEMX train with BNSF power approaches the UP (MoP) interlocker in Sallisaw, OK after dumping their coal at Bonanza

2) A southbound oil train we chased through much of the day passes the Heavener Yard office at the south end of the yard in Heavener, OK

3) The gang gets the last minute shot of a southbound H train over the navigation bridge in Redland, OK

4) Video of the oil train chase as it works up the grade at Page, OK and then Rich Mountain at the Arkansas border while a northbound pulls into the siding

5) A clip from earlier in the day as we shot the oil train over the river bridge in Redland, OK

Nice video!

My wife and I took a drive thru this area back in 2011 from Dallas and we really enjoyed the trains and the scenery.

Only been there a couple of times...one of my favorite spots is Rich Mtn.

Flashback about 45+ years and from the same general area of Watts to Poteau, here are some really dreadful 8mm movies of the KCS then.  Wish they were better, but they are what they are.

Thanks so much for posting those old movies... that's the KCS I rode and photographed in 1963-64, truly a railroad with a unique personality.  Great passenger shots and blonds too!  

Should be an OKCBR. Heading for Baton Rouge

Lived in Sallisaw for 3+ years.  Loved the area for action and rather rugged country.  Rich Mountain at the top of the list!
