Western Railroad Discussion > Ken Fitzgerald Coming to Temple, TX October 24th

The South Central States Chapter of the Railroad and Locomotive Historical Society invites you to its October 24th program at 2 pm on the 3rd Floor of the Temple Library, located at 100 West Adams Avenue.  Mr. Ken Fitzgerald will be discussing the Fort Worth and Western Railroad as seen from the lens of his camera.
Mr. Fitzgerald’s life long interest in railroads and photography began at the age of five when his uncle, a Santa Railroad employee, introduced him to trains by allowing him to ride in the locomotive or help the agent at the passenger depot in Sweetwater, TX.  Ken took some courses in photography at the age of 12 to further aide him in taking better pictures of trains, however, little did he know that his photogenic skills would earn the trust and respect of railroad CEO’s in selecting a contract photographer.  He is currently a certified, contract photographer for the Union Pacific, BNSF, and the Fort Worth and Western Railroads, hired to do special projects at the request of the railroad CEO. Mr. Fitzgerald’s photos have also been included in books, magazines, and calendars.
The Ft. Worth and Western railroad operates over 276 miles of track on territory extending from Ft. Worth to San Angelo. Carload traffic from the larger carries of BNSF, Union Pacific, and Kansas City Southern at Ft. Worth is funneled to the many industries in the smaller communities along its route to San Angelo. The railroad has been called the “bridge connection” for its transport of crude oil and sand trains to the oil producing areas southwest of San Angelo.
