I was hoping to catch AMTK 156 on NB #22 this morning since it was on #21 SB into San Antonio last night. Headed over to my old standby N. Bergstrom to try for a shot. Y'all might be wondering why I go there most times. The Austin Sub goes through almost solid tree tunnels in South Austin. Bergstrom at least offers a bit of an open area.

#22 came through running about 30 minutes late.


1-2. Would have been really nice to have the 156 leading, wouldn't it?

Shortly after I had arrived, a NB had taken the Bergstrom Siding to wait for Amtrak to come around before continuing north. It had hung back from the crossing I suppose to enjoy the shade. It was too far back to see when I shot the 156. After #22 had passed, another NB'er had come up and was holding the main.

25 minutes later, the autorack train on the main gets a flashing yellow and starts easing down Bergstrom Hill into Austin.
