Western Railroad Discussion > Three GP60s on Wednesday's Chevron LocalDate: 10/08/15 15:02 Three GP60s on Wednesday's Chevron Local Author: GrandeGold UP's Chevron Local that is based out of North Yard in Salt Lake City had a fine trio of ex-SSW/SP GP60s for power on Wednesday afternoon.
The trio is pictured retrieving tank cars at Becks on the old D&RGW. Flashback to July of 1993 when these pocket hot rod motors piloted priority piggyback trailers between Denver and Salt Lake City. I wonder how many times these GP60s have been renumbered since UP took over? We had 4 GP60s leased from UP when I worked for CZRY and these numbers are gone now and its only been about 6-7 years ago!! Date: 10/10/15 09:16 Re: Three GP60s on Wednesday's Chevron Local Author: Biggs_Jct Great photos as always, GG. Train in the 2nd photo would have been the DVOAF (SP symbol) in July of 1993, as the CHOATs had ceased running a few years earlier. The DVOAFs handled the Coors beer in boxcars upfront as shown in the photo. Believe the Railblazer intermodals were also running between Denver and SLC at that time as well.
